Something that can be easily incorporated into any event – playing one of the par 3 holes using a hickory club for the initial tee shot. 

 

Each player will be welcomed on to the tee by the SEHGC team in full costume. The tee area will be modestly dressed in artefacts and memorabilia from the era alongside a gramophone providing soothing background tunes from the 1920’s and 30’s. 

 

Players will be invited to have their photographs taken having chosen from a collection of golfing caps before they step up for their tee shot. The SEHGC will confirm yardage to the pin and suggest the most suitable choice of club for each player which can be selected from a number of bags of hickories that will be available on the tee area. 

 

The hole can be completed by each player using their own modern club in order to keep play at an acceptable pace. Soft balls are the most appropriate choice, and these can also be provided by our team if needed. Each player will also receive a period ‘one penny’ coin ball marker to celebrate their successful shot!

 

Twists to ‘The Niblick’ include an option to make the hole a ‘nearest the pin’ or ‘beat the hickory professional’ challenge.
